Core Beliefs & Goals
At Connections, fostering resilience is a core aspect of our educational philosophy. We believe that learning how to be resilient is essential for children to navigate the challenges they will encounter throughout their lives. Our curriculum incorporates activities and teachings that
encourage problem-solving, emotional regulation, and the ability to bounce back from setbacks. We promote a positive approach to addressing obstacles and emphasize the importance of embracing failure as an opportunity for growth. Through supportive guidance and encouragement, we empower children to develop a mindset that enables them to persevere and adapt in the face of adversity. Our goal is to instill in each child the belief that they have the strength and capability to overcome obstacles, learn from their experiences, and emerge stronger. By nurturing resilience from an early age, we aim to equip our students with the confidence and determination necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Our Philosophy:
Children require environments that respect who they are and who they are becoming. We see all children as being resilient, capable, curious, and full of potential.
About our philosophy…
“Children require environments that respect who they are and who they are becoming. We see all children as being resilient, capable, curious, and full of potential.”
Our philosophical starting point is that we foster the social and emotional development of each child based on their needs, family dynamics, experiences, and family values to support them in becoming resilient, lifelong learners within themselves and their communities. In order to create learning opportunities, we will get to know the child and build rapport with each family which allows us to create a foundation of trust and build meaningful connections to enable us to understand how to support that child to become a “resilient and capable lifelong learner.
The principle that children are respected as “being resilient, capable, curious and full of potential” is foundational in our practice. Each child develops in a unified process. Since all elements of development are of equal importance, our program will facilitate social, emotional, intellectual, language and physical skill development. We provide inclusive childcare that reflects our belief that all children belong together as a whole group, with the appropriate support required for success. We foster each child’s sense of belonging between themselves, other children, adults and the world around them.
We value and respect the early learning and development that takes place in the context of families and communities establishing pathways for lifelong learning, behaviour and health. Because we recognize the primary importance of families in the lives of children, we act to
support each child’s attachments to their family. Each child’s family is recognized as the most important influence in the child’s growth and development. Identity and family culture are valued. Respect and openness are promoted through appreciation for family values as we know that our relationships with children must create a continuity of care at home. Our program planning documents support building connections and partnerships with both home and family life as well as the community.
